Is this on your to do list? (National Estate Planning Awareness Week)
October 21st – 27th is National Estate Planning Awareness Week, and CASA of Allegheny County wants to help you make the most of it!
Having a plan in place to protect your loved ones and your assets is a powerful way to show you care. It also can protect your loved ones and support the causes that are close to your heart.
If you’re wondering why you should be thinking about your will, below are common myths about making estate plans:
- It’s too early for me to think about my will! We hope you won’t need to use it for many years to come, but it is never too early to start planning ahead. Whether you are eighteen or eighty, having a will can give you peace of mind that your wishes and loved ones are taken care of, no matter what.
- I wrote my will a couple of years ago, so I’m set. Have you acquired property? Do you have children or grandchildren? Life changes fast, so it is recommended that you review your will at least every five years.
- I don’t need a will because I don’t have much. You may well be wealthier than you think! You may be surprised how much your personal belongings, collections, IRA, 401k, real estate and crypto add up to. Also, do you have a spouse, pet or children to provide for? These are excellent reasons to make plans for the future.
